Why are you guys depleting your bowling line up more when bowling is the major problem area? The answer to these questions is only one: The Indian think tanks completely lack cricketing ideas.
Day by day England are getting more into their groove after coming to play in familiar conditions. If they can post 300 against Aussies, I wouldn't be surprised to see 350+ against this Indian bowling line up.
Indian batting order is also plagued with problems. There are some batsmen out of form. Some throw away their good starts even though in form. The others find it difficult to go in Australian surfaces.
All these issues combined together, the final result is the below par run rate the Indians achieve. They have been thwarting their oppositions by producing superior run rates. Going slow is the only option then you don't have the bowling to back it up.
