In the 2nd Semi-Final of the Ford Trophy Otago plays against Northern Districts. Otago are placed 3rd in the table and Notherns are placed 4th. Otago are very slightly favorites with the bookmakers.
These two teams have met twice this year. In both the matches Otago won. So Otago should win today, isn't it? The answer is not very simple. Northerners have Played 8, Won 4, Lost 4. Otago have Played 8, Won 3, Lost 3 and 2 No Result. Both the No Results came against Canterbury. In the 1st of them they were struggling and the 2nd they were on a decent position. They are placed 3rd because of their bonus point wins.
The problem with Otago is their middle and lower middle order batting. Nathan McCullum was powering them in the middle order and some useful spin bowling. Now he's replaced by Jesse Ryder. Ryder has played 2 matches and batted once to score 5 runs. The entire bowling order leaking runs and the top order musical chair has been the problem of Northern Districts.
Northerns have lost too many players to International duties. Still they have managed to qualify to the Semi Finals. Their basics and technique is good. They are always a team to fear. Even though stats are with Otago, I'm taking Northern Districts today.
Except BetRally other bookmakers are not opening the odds. Even if they do so this match is not going In-Play. Check with your bookmaker site for the odds and In-Play status.

Tip
Low Stakes. Stats are supporting Otago marginally. I'm taking Northern Districts with a contrarian view.
